A Week In Review

We spent alot of time outside this week. I mean alot! With the weather starting to change and the mornings and evenings being a little cooler we soaked up the fresh air. And sadly the time will change soon and our nighttime play time will be cut short.

Aiden and I also worked on his solar system project together. He did a great job in location which one came next and making all the asteroids.

And nothing like a trip to the emergency room. Ben took a nasty fall on his bike, thank goodness he was wearing his helmet which resulted in a huge bruise. The size at first was nerve wracking and I yelled at all the kids to their shoes and shirts on and jump in the van. We made record time to the ER where Dr. Paul was so nice to get us in and out. An ice pack, some solution to clean it and sleeping in mommies bed was just what this boy needed. Next day he woke up and was ready to ride his bike again!

Brayden played in his first deck hockey game of the season. The team they played against was hard but they played well. Unfortunately they didn't pull out a win.

My big boys had a sleepover at their friends house while Crystal stayed the night at our house and hung out with Aiden and Raylan.  We also had Mem, Pep and Grandma Me over for dinner. The next day Brayden was unable to stay awake from the fun of the sleepover and lack of sleep!

The boys also enjoyed a few hours at the Skate Park over the weekend. They exclaimed that it was the best day ever!

Donuts with Dad

Each year Flagler County Schools put on a Donuts with Dad morning where you can go into school and have donuts together.

Jake was able to attend the morning with his boys while I switched it up a little bit! My boys and I went through the drive thru at Dunkin Donuts and had a nice ride to school this morning!

St. Augustine

This past weekend we visited the oldest city, St. Augustine. Our first stop was to the boys favorite spot, the Old Jail. We took a tour, I got locked in a cell and we got to see what it was like to be in a jail back in the olden days and how they operated. This was our second time touring the jail and we had the same tour guide, Ian. He's funny and really interacts with the kids!

Our second stop was the Old Fashion Store. We were greeted with a free piece of candy and a tour of all types of things that were sold. Beans, medicine, rat traps and much more! The back of the store was a warehouse where we got to see bigger things that were made such as a washer and dryer, sewing machine and bikes!

We also took the trolley and toured all stops throughout the beautiful city! It was a gorgeous day to spend outside as a family!

Electronics

We took away electronics for the weekend. At first you would have thought it was the end of the world. But come to find out these boys had a blast putting away the electronics and diving into Ian's old baseball cards. They sat on the floor for a few hours going through them, organizing them and running outside to show us some exciting ones.

Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorain may have been the longest and slowest hurricane I have ever watched.

What started on a Tuesday as they were projecting it to hit the East Coast of Florida and had many different variables along the way but most tracks were eyeing for Florida we prepped all weekend awaiting the never ending storm. Jake was going to mandated to work so him and his Dad boarded up our house before that happened.

Monday was labor day and school was already cancelled until Thursday.

We waited and waited and the storm ended up getting up to a Category 5 and stalled over the Bahamas for twenty four hours.

At this point we were still in the path of the eye potentially hitting us. We were in the track for the eye to potentially hitting us for a few days and almost right up to the minute that it turned. Thank goodness it went more out in the ocean and spared us. All we got was some rain and wind.

I couldn't wait for this storm to be gone. It was more mentally draining than anything. The hype and planning all week just to wait to see what it was going to do.

Because all the meteorologists had no idea!

Massachusettes

Over Labor Day weekend Brayden took a trip up to Massachusetts to visit my family. The trip started with being able to stay overnight in the Orlando Airport at the Hyatt. He swam a little and tried to get a good nights sleep before his early Friday morning flight! He was so excited i'm not sure he slept that much.

Friday morning he flew out of Orlando on Southwest into Hartford, CT where they made the drive to my hometown of Pittsfield, MA. They visited with my Uncle Bill, Aunt Connie, and cousins for a few hours before taking off the go visit my Dads sister my Aunt Stephanie, Uncle Mike and my cousin Cullen. They enjoyed a nice dinner together before they headed off to their final destination of the day my sisters.

The next morning Brayden took off to Vermont for a few hours with my nephew Connor, his girlfriend Gabby and her daughter Leigha, Leigha and Brayden are the same age. They went to a festival where they enjoyed carnival rides and shaved ice.   The rest of the day the kids played in the pool (how I don't know with the temps) and enjoyed some x-box together!

Sunday Connor, my Dad, Brayden and my brother-in-law Bill went and took the drone out and hiked up a mountain to get some amazing views and some great pictures.

The reason my parents went up this Labor Day weekend because when I was younger my Uncle Bill always had a big get together on Labor Day at his house. We would eat, play wiffle ball in his back yard and visit with family. Brayden was lucky to go this year. He got to visit with my brother this day too and got to see what a Labor Day family reunion was like.

And luckily with the Hurricane on the radar they were lucky enough to make it home in time!
