Okeeheelee State Race

State race weekends. What can I say? They are quite the experience and they never disappoint. Whether you come home with a number one place win or you only comes home with lessons learned on the track , they are all wins in my eyes!

This weekend we learned and we grew. When Bransen took his first moto on Saturday (mind you there were 18 riders) I definitely thought that there was no way he was making it into the semi. He didn't transfer out of the first moto so had a chance at the second moto to transfer to the semi. He did it. He pulled it off.

Funny side note: I couldn't see the finish line from where I was sitting and the last spot I saw him there was another rider in front of him and I assumed at that point that he didn't quite make it. But to my surprise he did. Onto the semi's we go!

But if that's nerve wracking enough we decided with ten minutes in between that we are going to change out his cranks. Yeah! and as they are calling Bransen Barrette up to staging and already dropped the gate on the first moto, we have Coach Kevin running through the track to stop the gate. With no time to spare Bransen finally makes it up to the gate, races his race and makes the semi!!

Onto the main event, which was a little rough he ended with an 8th place finish. But making it to the semi's was our first goal.

Sunday came around and we made another change to his gear, he didn't get any practice time in and after trying to transfer to the semi's twice he came short. He did some of his best racing in these two motos though. He was determined and gave his all.

That's all I can ask!!

We had a great time. Hung out with friends in between races, swam in the hotel pool and bonded with our team.

Onto Triple Creek next month!
